Neither is a gaming laptop. Nor either will run MW3. Finally, you cannot upgrade a graphics card in a laptop.

My suggestion: get a desktop. For the same price, you'll get a machine that will be able to play those games without any lag whatsoever at much higher settings.

Why do these people not understand it...

Normal laptops aren't made for gaming. They will not play new games on lowest settings, they will lag and overheat.

Gaming laptops start at $1000-1100.

If you want good gaming quality and cheap price, buy a desktop. For $500, you could get a decent desktop that would play games at medium-high settings at 1080p resolution, and on higher settings if the monitor's resolution is lower.

My suggestion: get a cheap netbook for school and spend the rest for a decent desktop.

Well, considering the fact that you live in UK, which means you're a VAT payer, and that means prices are 20% high than in USA, this is the best deal I could find:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Samsung-550P5C-15-6-inch-Laptop/dp/tech-data/B007VBEQ56/ref=de_a_smtd

I know it's over your budget, but that's the minimum I'd go as far as gaming go.

Gaming wise, it's as fast as 350-400 pound desktop would be.

It will play games like Far Cry 3 or Hitman Absolution on medium settings at 1366x768 resolution. Games like MW3 should be playable on high settings.
