whats best to get for a p4? just spoke with one store today, was advised MCX4000 is the best p4 HS, is that true?? however if u take a look @overclockers.com o/c database u ll see most people w/2.4c's are using SLK-900U's, just one or two people have got a mcx4000....also looks like mcx4000 base is polished much better

so ultimately what is the best p4 HS out there??

SLK900U is the best because pure copper has no thermal resistance, while Swiftech MCX4000 is a hybrid and while the heat is being transfered from the base to the fins there's a delay in heat-transfer so there's about a 3-4C difference.

from what i ve seen theres more issues w/mounting an slk900u on various mobos than w/mcx4000? is there any known issues w/IC-7 mobos?

SLK900U is compatible with all p4 motherboards.

SLK900U is not the best anymore, Thermalright has released <A HREF="http://thermalright.com/sp94.html" target="_new">SP-94</A> Which has been tested on <A HREF="http://www.overclockers.com/articles798/" target="_new">overclockers.com</A> and has been ranked <A HREF="http://www.overclockers.com/articles373/" target="_new">number 1</A>.

I can't find 1 in Canada, so I guess not really worthy for 1-2C drop from the SLK900U, even though it's probably going to cost a lot more.
