i got it running at 200*11 @ 1.7 volts... stepping AQXEA... slk900u 49cfm 92mm fan.. idle around 20-24C and load around 30-34C.. room temp is like 15C... this a good decent overclock? i tried 200*11.5 but windows crashed... blue screen and rebooted (windows xp)... the cpu is cool enuff tho...hasnt been over 35C...very top its hit is 34C... so i like the temps... just wondering about the xtra 0.05 volts... also its very stable...ran prime95 for 5 hours and no problems...

Thats a wrong cpu reading for sure! 20c idle is better than most water cooling setups. I would say your mobo takes the reading from the sensor under the cpu or is off by 5c+. The 900u is a good cooler, as i have it installed on my 2500 running at 2300mhz/1.67v and its idling at 41C with a 60cfm fan/some arctic ceramique, an open case and a big 12" fan blowing over the case and its about 16c in here atm. My mobo takes the reading from the onboard cpu diode i believe so always seems high.

Also 5 hours prime is nothing. Try 12 hours one day, then 12 hours another day to make sure the psu is giving the cpu the juice at all times it needs to stay stable!

I don't mean to sound like im flaming you, thats a nice overclock you have there. :)

Well I was hoping to get an answer from him of what ram he's using because if he's using pc3500 then he can probably use loose timing and get to 225FSB. It's so true the mobo temps's always off. Sometimes i can't even trust the diode temperature which i read from MBM5, since it's telling me my cpu's cooler than my ambient temperature.

Oh and tbw m8, have you ever tried raising t(ras) to 11 or 10 instead of the usual 5 or 6? I read a thread on this over at hardforum and they said it gave them better performance. I tried it at 2-3-3-10 and gained a few fps in the lobby test in 3dmark 2001se over 2-3-3-7! I think its only for nforce 2 mobos though....

huh, speeduk are you sure you're not addict on speed? Jk, I thought tighter timings gives you better performance.

LOL m8. Im not joking. Its to do with return values or something at higher fsb's. @ 166mhz fsb/memory lower setting is good but @ 200mhz+,10 or 11 is better for some reason.

Wow your room temp is 59 degs. you must live some place cold or your enerngy bill must be really high. Also that 20-24c is full of sh$t. Even with a water cooler the temps would not be that low unless your sticking ice in it. Hell my room is 75f or 24c and my cpu runs at idle of 104f or 40c and at full load 114f or 45c and I also have a water cooler.

I use MBM, sandra and bios, they all tell me the same thing. Currently its 20c in here, 29c mobo temp and 42c cpu temp (2405mhz/1.8v). Having the fan blowing over my open case takes 2-4c off cpu temps and 10c off system temps and lets me keep my 9700pro @ 350/340 completely stable! My system just gets faster and faster. Gone from 11,000 3dmarks with my 1700 pally @ stock - 15850 with my 2100 @ 2240mhz - 16100 with my 1700 @ 2305mhz - 17200 with my 2500 @ 2405mhz and slight oc on my 9700pro. I tried 208x11.5 (2392mhz) and its not stable, how I wish I got some corsair 3700! Looks like I've found a good 100% stable config at last. And its still pretty quiet and runs cooler than my original 1700 pally at stock speeds on 1.78 (49c idle 58c load with case open) LOL.

hmm my [-peep-] 2500+ is about 49-52c idle (doesnt dropp much with open case either) i have 1 120x120 front case fan and 1 80x80 rear case fan, the most wierd thing is, i use to run it @ 200x11 before the summer and temp was about the same ( i guess i have to reseat the heatsink ).

Think im gonna buy a new cpucooler anyway, but what air (not water) cooler should i buy ???

Get the best you can afford. You won't regret spending that bit extra on something like a 900-u. What heat sink do you have atm? And what speed u running that barton @ ?

Try to switch the stock fan to a Smart Case Fan 2 or something more powerful that'll give u much more performance.

I use TIM clean. I bought it from a local comp shop. It works a treat on both the core and the heatsink. click here
