I've got two Verizon phones - a plain old cell phone (camera, phonebook,
etc. :-) which is an LG VX6000, and PDA/cell hybrid which is a Samsung
SPH i700. The VX6000 is definitely CDMA (specs say 800MHz for cellular
services and 1.9GHz for PCS (Personal Communication Services)). I'm
fairly certain the i700 is also CDMA but I don't have the specs handy.
Can either of these phones be used in the UK? I'm anticipating a trip
and would like to be able to use at least one of these if possible.
Ideal would be if I can use the i700 for both voice & data (PDA)
function, but I'd settle for voice-only on either one. If the answer's
"Yes, but not with Verizon" is there anywhere I can get a coverage map
of CDMA carriers in the UK to work out details?
Thanks!

Verizon is a CDMA system. Your Vz phone is a CDMA phone. AFIK, CDMA is
not available in GB or the continent.

Your phone uses CDMA 850 MHz and CDMA 1900 MHz
In Great Britian T-Mobile is 900 MHz GSM and Vodafone is 1800 GSM
(WCDMA?)
If want to use a phone you will have to buy or rent a GSM phone to
roam. You can buy a Samsung SCH-A790, 'Motorola A840'
(http://tinyurl.com/7mlh5) these phones are more for people who leave
the US alot and can do CDMA in the states and GSM over in Europe. It
won't do GSM here in the US.
