I posted this in the Overclocking Coolers and Heatsinks forum but it is not getting the attention it deserves.
So I am double posting this to share with the forum pervert section.

When I upgraded to the P4 3.06 cpu the stock cooling fan that came with the cpu was too loud. It sounded like a Black and Decker Dustbuster.
So for the past month I have been looking around at different cpu coolers and alternative cooling systems like water cooling and thermal electric.
Water cooling and thermal electric seem awfully expensive for a person like me who is not an overclocker.
So I decided on using an all copper air cooler with a high performance fan. I chose the Thermaltake P4 Spark 7 high performance air cooler. As well I also picked up a Thermaltake High Medium Low three speed fan switch mounted on a pci bracket.
I have to admit these items were not cheap. The cooler was $40 and the fan switch was $13 (Canadian Dollars).
Installation was a breeze. The cooler was the easiest one I have ever installed. Power for the fan is taken directly from a 4 pin hard drive molex connector. I used a rail from the power supply that has no other hardware connected to it.
With the fan switch set to low I ran the SiSoft Sandra burn in test. The highest temperature reached was 55C.
The idle temp is 40C.
I also have the Antec TruePower 480W power supply. It is controlling the speed of my intake fans and power supply fans. My exhaust fan is a thermostaticly controlled Antec 80mm.
After all this work I can sit down at my computer and watch a DVD and hear it!
My system is so quiet now I can hear the hard drive. The last time I heard my hard drive was a couple of years ago when I had a PIII 866 system!
I'm really happy with this cooler. It's quiet. I can still hear the fans but now they're at a respectable volume. And I didn't sacrifice system cooling efficiency.

I have to recommend to anyone who wants to use air cooling on their 3GHz and higher P4 system to use the Thermaltake Spark 7 all copper high performance air cooler.

Great to hear you like it... you certaintly need a good HSF for that uber heat creating CPU.

My CPU fan spins so fast that it creates a wormhole
