I have been trying to overclock the FSB on my Athlon XP 2500+ (barton) on my soyo KT 400 platinum, but every time I move it up at all above 166 when I exit the bios, it just beeps once and never boots up. I am running Corsair Platinum XMS DDR 3200 and would really like to run it at the full 400mhz. I have tried removing the ABR jumper but that wasnt it.

What does FSB has to do with your RAM? It does matter if you want to run your CPU and RAM in sync, but remember, KT400 is not design for 400FSB, it's a 333FSB chipset, you can't complain a KT400 that is not running anything above 166MHz, it is not meant to be. If you want to run your RAM at full speed, the thing you should change is the memory frequency. And set your timing correctly. But I would reckon running your RAM at 166MHz to sync with your FSB.

Well, the bios has the option to run the 200Mhz fsb and can actually be set much higher. I have read of other people getting 200 out of it, I was just wondering why it wont overclock at all seeing as its supposed to be good at that...and whats the point of running the memory faster than the fsb anyway. I guess Ill just have to get a MSI board that supports that speed.

Well, overclocking is something that you can't 100% sure. It's true that in BIOS you can select high FSB but what's the point you can't run at that speed? On Asus A7N8X Deluxe I can set the FSB up to 300MHz and so what? This doesn't mean that I CAN actually run at 300MHz FSB(600MHz DDR). And yes, running in sync is always preferable and if you can't get 200/200 working, 166/166 is not bad either.

My Asus KT400 mobo went as high as 185FSB. And sometimes it does go as high as 190 but nothing more than that. Some Epox boards do 200+ FSB. But if u r buying a new mobo, i suggest u get the nForce2 mobo. Where i am, the A7N8X Dlx is the cheapest of the lot. And i am getting one in a week's time.
