I am planning to get a XP2500+ for A7N8X-X, I was wondering would the Thermalright SLK947U fit the motherboard?
Addition, what fan should I go with it? One that is 'noiseless' of course.
I do plan to OC XP2500 to 3200

System Integration...yeah right, thanks to marketing, more confusion

I would recommend the SLK900A just because it's guranteed to fit.

the 947U is made for socket A AND socket 478, and should fit more motherboards than the 900U would because of the arched bottom on its fins

check Thermalright's websote for a list of compatible motherboars.

As for aquiet fan, Panaflo, Vantec Stealths, Papst, Zalmann - they're all good, just remember that you still do need a half decent fan (as far as cfm is concerned)... just because its a great heatsink doesn't mean it'll perform so great with no airflow lol

Most fans are fairly quiet except for Deltas and Tornados.

I guess I'm too used to 2 Tornados so anything under 45dBa for me it's fairly quiet.

Can't agree with you more, I use to have 1 92mm on my SLK900U and 1 80mm on my ZM80A-HP. Now I only have 1 92mm on my SLK900U but I can control its speed now.

i had both of mine on a rheobus too but still couldn't stand it lol. i dunno how ppl do it with like 10 case fans - i mean i was able to hear the damn comp in the next room over without a problem.. [-peep-] man, i used to mistake it for the blow-dryer, thinking my mom was awake lol

Well my Tornado's at 2700rpm right now and that's acceptable noise.

all i know is i'm 8 posts away from being a "nimble nuckle" and our continuous ranting about the Tornado and how loud it is is helping out lol

8 posts away???

I am plannning the following combination:
SLK947U and Enermax Adjustable Speed 92mm, the spec of this fan look great.

Also, would removing the fan guard produce better cfm?

System Integration...yeah right, thanks to marketing, more confusion

lol fan guard doesn't make that much difference but i removed mine because the tornado is sooo thick adding more thickness to the clip just doesn't work.

yeah that fan is supposed to be pretty good for the $

but removing the fan guard would more-so reduce noise than increase cfm... but yeah, either way its a good idea (also removing the punch-out grill part on cases)

But fan guard on the Tornados or the Deltas are REALLY useful because they keep your fingers attached to your hands.
