If you have the Gold version there is a Windows XP/2K patch.

If you have the original C & C then it's a DOS game with a Windows 95 frontend. Did you enable Windows 95 compatibility in XP? (Right click on the desktop icon, go to compatibility and change it to windows 95, or so I'm told. I don't use XP)

If that doesn't work try <A HREF="http://forumz.tomshardware.com/games/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&p=8903#8903" target="_new">this thread</A>.

It's worth a try but I think the Gold version is a genuine Windows app where the original wasn't.

The patch can't hurt anything being just a .dll that goes in the game folder. It won't even load if it's not called by the app.

I checked the VDMSound DOS compatibility database but there are no reports for C & C, neither good nor bad.

I have C & C: Red Alert which is also one of those Win95-OS hybrids. I could test it but it wouldn't prove anything since I'm still Using Win98SE which runs most DOS games anyway.
