If I can't use this, what other fan and heatsink would I get temps like 36 c idle and 40 load.

Also I have a barton 2500xp too :)

cheers

Are you going to overclock? And why do you want the temps so low? It's not really a concern until it starts to hit 50C.

-Intel PIV 2.4C @ 3.84G -Asus P4P800 -OCZ Copper 2x256 4000EL memory @ 275mhz 3-4-4-8 -Sapphire 9800pro @ 490/780 -SB audigy -80G Maxtor Diamond Plus9 Ultra ATA-133 hdd -450 Enermax PSU

the heatsink will fit the mobo, but you might not reach such low temperatures.. watercooling would get you there though. OTherwise you might want to look at Swiftech's MCX462 (the new version of it, can't remeber the letter extension) with a Vantec Tornado.

Use the SLK900U or SLK947U or SLK900A or Swiftech MCX462-V using those heatsinks with 92mm Tornado(loud b*tch) you might be able to get temps that low.

dude you love adding on to my replies

the SLK947 is a nice heatsink too... and like i said, that tornado is the best fan you can slap on there

Well you said u forgot the MCX462's extention so i just added the -V part, and another couple decent heatsinks.

Yeah I basicly want a cooler that is pretty easy to install and keeps temps around late 30's idle and earlier 40's.

I'm going to overclock my cpu to 12.5x 166, also my voltage is at 1.62 atm if I raise this a bit to say 1.7 with a new heat sink and fan it will maike it stable?

Also is that as much as I can take my cpu to 12.5x166 with my 1.2 rev abit board?

also atm my cpu temps are 49c and 56c load with stock cooling.

cheers

BAD BAD CHOICE, it'll get you no where near the temps you want. Read my previous post, those heatsinks i mentioned are the best of the best, with Tornado fans those are as far as air cooling could go.

josh you should be able to hit those speeds you're looking for, just remember thats its not all about cpu cooling, you've got to have a cool northbridge as well, and generally having good airflow helps as well (since the Mosfets on the board have an impact as well, and they get HOT). Upping the voltage that little is fine, don't worry too much about that. As for the temp range you're looking for though, I haven't had hands-on experience with the Zalman cooler but I'm not sure you'll get such "mellow" temps... nonetheless, anything under 60*C is fine (though i shouldn't be talking, i run at 29*C idle/33*C load with watercooling lol).
