Run big monitor (1920x1200) on a Presario SR1511NX?

I've been researching this for two days, but still have no real
answers. I have the Presario SR1511NX. I'd like to know whether I
should invest in the Dell 2405 monitor or an Apple Cinema 23", which
run a native resolution of 1920 x 1200. This would require an upgrade
to the video capabilities of my computer. Here's what I've determined
so far:
- my motherboard: Asus K8S-LA motherboard (AKA Salmon-GL6E)
- my video processor: SiS 760 integrated.
- I have 3 available PCI slots, and one available AGP slot.

HOWEVER, all the cards I've found advertised that support DVI at
1920x1200 require either PCI Express (e.g. the ATI Radeon X300), or AGP
8X (e.g. the NVIDIA GEForce 6800). Apparently PCI Express is
supplanting AGP 8X as a standard.

QUESTION: Does the Presario I have support either PCI Express or AGP
8X??? In other words, can I drive either of these big screens with my
machine, or did I blow it when I bought a cheap computer?

Thanks in advance for any answers.

According to the HP website, your motherboard does have an 8X compatible AGP
slot. It does NOT have a PCI express slot. Here is the URL for the info:

What you want is to finf a 3D Oxygen GXVI AGP card. They came as a
standard upgrade in the AP500 Professional Workstations.

Thanks very much for taking the time to reply. I'm beginnning to be
optimistic that I can drive this monitor from my Presario (with which,
by the way, I'm very pleased, esp. for the money.)

I don't think you need a video card to run the monitor? As someone else stated your motherboard is an asus k8s-la. It is capable of agp 8x so you could add a agp video card if you wanted but I don't know about the monitor you mentioned? I added a sceptre 22" monitor to mine and it runs fine with the on board video adapter. I am thinking of adding a video card Geforce 6200 agp for better game play. which may also improve the picture quality of my monitor, however it works flawlessly now.
