Hi there,
I'm considering buying a $39.99 national IN plan for use in NM. 450
peak minutes, free in calling, free long distance, no roaming. The
spokesperson at RadioShack told me this promotion will be ending soon:
any idea when, and what features will go? Because I have family on the
east coast, I really don't want to miss out on the free long distance.
Any ideas on the new promotions? I'm not really concerned about phone
promotions(buy one, get three free, etc).
I just want to know if I should buy now, or wait to see what they have
to offer.

Jamie,
Why worry, sign up now and if a better offer comes along ask for a upgrade
to the new offer. Usually if it's within a month they will not change your
contract length, after that they sometimes extend it from the date you got
the new offer.
HTH,
Don

I can't recall seeing a promotion that wasn't eventually outdone by a
future deal. Worst case, they would drop the plan back down to 400
minutes (what it used to be), but I wouldn't bet the farm on that
happening. All the national plans have free IN calling, free domestic
long distance, free N&W home minutes, and free roaming within the
system as part of their standard features. There's nothing left to
go.

I think you are giving some bad advice, Don. I'm under the impression that
Radio Shack can charge a fee of $250 if he changes his plan in the first six
months. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Is there any upside to buying from Radio Shack over
buying directly from VZW or a company store?

Since Radioshack is an agent if the customer does something that
Radioshack loses its commision then they bill the customer for it in
the contract.
In June Verizon is changing lot of things in there plans.
Nobody really knows what at this time what will happen
more anytime minutes?
bonus minutes?
first incoming minute free?
7pm nights?
less anytime minutes and cheaper extras?
I doubt rollover.

Ben,
I believe that is only if you cancel your contract, probably would be wise
to check first. I purchased my plan from a independent dealer and a better
offer came out about two months later. I called Verizon direct and the gave
me the new plan but extended my contract two additional months. There were
no other charges involved.

I cannot think of any reasonable scenario. I always go to an O&O
store, as it's one less set of fingers pointing at someone else when
you have service/equipment issues.
