Is a 2.4C w/4000 or 2.6 w/3700 faster OC'd?

Ok guys, I'm on a CPU/RAM budget of about $350 and a motherboard budget of about $130. I've got my eyes on the Abit IC7 mobo with the 875 chipset. I want to overclock and I want to know what will get me further for $350 - a 2.4C with Corsair Twin Dual DDR 4000 or a 2.6C with Corsair Dual DDR 3700?

they will both overclock to nearly the same speed however the 2.4c setup will perform better because it will have a higher fsb/memory speed.

Asus P4C800 is a better choice, OCZ's memory overclocks much better than corsair at higher frequencies.

Thanks again guys, but my budget's total on the three items is about 480. As much as I would love to get the Asus P4C800 delux ($180), I can't afford it, plus the (overpriced? - $200)OCZ Ram and the CPU ($165). Maximum PC swears by Corsair Ram - specially the Dual Channel XMS series - and says Abit's a great overclocker board.

Abit's not good enough for me it only reached 310FSB, and P4C800's been known to hit 329FSB. My P4P800 could hit 325mhz. Corsair doesn't overclock much you can trust me on that. I got the Corsair Dual channel PC3700 they only ran 7mhz higher than rated frequency even at 2.85vdimm. So why do you want the deluxe mobo? P4C800 is good enough. Well Corsair's great at anything below PC3500, past that OCZ dominates.

OK, good info. I found OCZ EL w/copper HS's for $189 - only $5 more than the Corsair. I can't find, however, the Asus P4C800 anywhere! I keep finding the delux and the E delux versions! I usually shop at Newegg, ZipZoomFly (Googlegear was a better name), and Tiger Direct. Any sites worth checking out? I've always had Asus boards and love 'em. If I can get further on an Asus for the same price - awesome. Scottchen, do you have air cooling or liquid?

Air, SLK900U with Tornado, Hardcano5, Vantec Iceberq 4(epoxy on the N.Bridge), Volcano 10+(on the 9800pro) used stock Geforce2 MX400 for S.Bridge cooling. My case's pretty much disassembled, to removed, both side panels removed. And another 5 intake fans total about total about 350CFM.

Damn. you've got a friggin' Frankenstein monster! But if you've got a 2.4c running at 3.8, you are a mad scientist. Well, I'm not sure I'd want my computer in pieces, since it does go to other peoples houses for a lan party from time to time, but do you think I can squeeze 3.0 - 3.4 on 4 fans and a kickass CPU fan? Maybe a couple fans on the northbridge and southbriges? Would liquid cooling (not now, but someday) get me to 3.8?

You can get 3.0, 3.4 with just SLK900U with a Papst or Panaflo 92mm fan that has about 70CFM. They stock north bridge cooler should do it.

Thanks for everything man. When I get my new stuff, I'll come back here again and let ya know how everything is going. Probably in a week or two. I'm selling my current stuff, so that's why I have my other post. I'm trying to get as much out of it as I can for my friend who's on a smaller budget than me, so I'm trying to help him out. Just need the fan direction info for that case. Thanks again!

without evidence i will not beleive it. It is possible, but on air...thats a stretch.

The fact that i asked for evidence, and he never sent it only makes me beleive he is lying.

Well, now that others are in on the post, anybody gonna back up scottchen on the OCZ over Corsair opinion? I've cheked out reviews. they seem to run the same. Also I don't want the springdale (865) chipset. I do graphics (3DS MAX, Maya, After FX) so I'd like to get Intel's "performance" Canterwood chipset - the 875. that's why I was looking at the Abit IC7. What would fare better (with the same money): The Asus PC4800 w/PC3200, or the Abit IC7 w/PC4000? I'll make a new post for it. See what people say.

personally i doubt it, corsair and ocz use the same memory chips, so really unless ocz has an amazingly better pcb, i doubt they will overclock THAT much further.

read the reviews man from Anandtech, it's obvious OCZ's copper series is on top. By a LOT.

I read this somewhere that OCZ used lower ns memory than Corsair but according to the reviews OCZ overclocks much better.
