Hello,

I was wondering why many coolers say they work with cpu's up to a 3400?

As far I know the highest rated AMD cpu is a 3200, and the 3200 is the last cpu for socket A.

Probably manufacturers were anticipating a release of a cpu running with a pr of 3400, their heatsinks went above and beyond the 3200+'s thermal output so they rated it up to 3400+

I remember when heatsinks were rated at 3200+ before the barton core was even released!

If it isn't a P6 then it isn't a procesor

Marketing, pure marketing.

Is someone going to by a $15 HSF combo that's rated to cool a 2600+ or the one rated 3400+??? The average joe who doesn't know will get the higher rated one.

We are just consumers.
