I just assembled my PC based on ABIT NF7-S.
Everything's fine except I can't make my BIOS recognize SATA hard drive /Maxtor/ and when I try to use driver from floppy that came with MB during the installation of Win Xp it just says it can't find HD after selecting the driver.
What should I do to install Win XP PRO ?
Should I upgrade the BIOS ?

Thanks

It might be a setting in your bios that is not on, if that is not the case then your mb is most likely no good.

I don't know if helps at all. I had the same kind of problem. My mobo doesn't have the newest SATA. Just the ATA and XP PRO wouldn't see it either. So I just had 1 cdrom drive and the HD I was installing connected to the standard Primary and Secondary. Installed XP then connected everything the way I wanted it in my case. After that all you should have to do is tell your bios to boot "1" as your SATA or whatever it says in the bios.

Good luck

U r not suppose to see sata drive in bios. Set first boot device = scsi then when windowsinstall starts the blue screen hold down f6 then use your floppy when windows asks 4 them.

have u run fdisk ?

You can't fdisk the sata drives because dos won't see them. you have to get the windows setup to see them and make the partitions then.
Make sure you have your drive all setup in the silicon image raid bios.

-go to the site of the controler chip of your sata disk.
-look for news revisions for the disk instalations on win xp.
