Run Assassins Creed 3 in 4:3?

I recently got Assassins Creed 3, but I have a 4:3 monitor, so I get black bars as the game only seems to support 16:9. Resolution is set to 1280x1024, yet I still play in 1280x720 with black bars. Is there some way I can force AC3 to run in 4:3, or a program/mod I can use? Any help is appreciated :)

All the Assassin's Creed games since 2 only support the 16:9 aspect ratio. There is no 4:3 or 16:10 support at all. You're just going to have to live with the black bars unless you feel like going out and buying a 16:9 monitor.

That's a shame, I have however found a way to run in fullscreen, but its not pretty, I have to set to to 1280x720 and it stretches the screen out. Doesnt look great, but since I have quite a small monitor its better than black bars.

I had 1280x720 as well to remove the black bars, but after I had installed the newest ATI graphics driver (12.6 rev) it doesn't remove the bars anymore. It does change the resolution but the bars still exist. Is there any way other than this to remove the bars?
