I have 2 -500 gig hdds, the first is a win 7 64 prof. the other vista 32 ultimate. The default Hdd is the win 7 64. If I delete
the vista hdd by reformatting, can I then go into bios and set up a raid 1 mirror setup and have 2 of the win 7 64 exact hdds?
Or do I need to do a complete start over and reformat both then turn on raid 1. Thx for your help, plz advise what i would have to do to accomplish this as I dont want to start from scratch if possible.

A RAID needs to be setup before the installation of the OS.

Therefore, you will need to do a complete start over and reformat both then turn on RAID1.

This is true.

You'll need to eneable RAID in the bios. Upon reboot, go into the raid config and set up your drives in a RAID 1 volume. Then when installing the OS you will be given the option to select the raid volume as the installation disk. At that point, you'll be given an option to partition and format the raid volume.
