my oldest kid quit playing black ops to play this more. i gotta say i was a bit shocked to see him leave a fps for something so simple and still very fun. my 6 year old likes to play this as well. it's a pretty cool game. i have to admit, for the first time i can say my kids actually learned something of value from a video game. we have had discusions about elements and construction methods. big props to the team making this game available.

[citation][nom]skaz[/nom]I wish it was cheaper then 20 us dollars. I'd pull the trigger at $10-$15.[/citation]
That's 20 euros.... More like $28.97 American money. Wallet's gonna be missing a bit more than a portrait of Mr. Jackson.

You'll get more gameplay then some 50$ games... So 20$ is worth it.

I find it strangely fitting that Minecraft is to be supposedly released on the last binary date of the 21st century. :D

For anyone this may help. Current exchange rates...

Price for game now - 14.95 euros = 21.58 US dollars
Price for game later - 20.00 euros = 28.87 US dollars

I've got $20 burning a hole in my pocket right now for this game. I was hoping to wait until after summer (to avoid spending too much time indoors) but I may just have to pick it up now.

Some of the 64x64 (misa's is one of my favorites) and higher rez 128x128 and 256x256 texture packs actually do quite a bit to jazz things up a bit. They require a little bit of tweaking to get in place but nothing you can't learn to do in 5-10 minutes of forum reading.

It's certainly a fun game that deserves to be bought. I really do hope that money is used to produce future titles as well however. It's been quite sometime since we got a game with such charm and addictiveness.

Also I used a 256x256 texture pack called LB_Photo_Realism_x256
for those interested in finding one.

The major and undeniable success of minecraft is not about "looking good". It is all about game play. Great game play at a great price! "looking good" has been the whole problem with the gaming industry. I loved gaming much better on my Intellivision and my C64 because of the game play was so much better!

Ditto!!! We jumped in at the alpha stage...It great

Good news. I just hope there'll be more to come until, and after November 11.

I also wish they'll fix the issues with maps not containing newly introduced materials when carried over from old versions. Some of my friends that started in Alpha don't have Lapis Lazuli ores because it was generated a long time ago.

For months I had this confused with Minesweeper.

I couldn't understand why the guy from Deadmau5 was so addicted to an ancient boring game haha

Still haven't played it myself, I'll wait until there is a demo. Still can't figure out what exactly it is you do in the game.
