right, heres my question:
I have been having a bit of a look around this rivatune thing and its ability to mod up cards to be equal to their more powerful brothers.
BUT, it all the stuff seems to be about 9500np -> 9500pro OR 9500np (256bit) -> 9700np
Is there a software mod for 9500pro or is that already at its top performance? (before OC)

I ask cos its very hard to find a 9500np but their still are a few 9500pros, and as a 3d designer, I am considering getting one and moding it (via rivatune again) to a fireglX(or Z)1

anyone explaing the deal?
Thanks in advence.

there was never an old 9500pro. Only the old Sapphire 9500 non-pro could be modded into an 9700pro.

we always used to mod the 9500pro into an 9700 (nonpro), but then again we don't get "build by Ati" cards over here.

When I write "old" versions, I am referring to the 128-bits (<rev 2)

Intel Pentium 4 - 400Mhz FSB - 2.4Ghz
- 1024mb pc-133 - Ati Radeon 9700@350mhz 128Mb@610mhz

Basically the L-shaped memory ones will mod to 9700, the ones in a straight line won't.

=) cool... troulbe is that it is hard to be sure when you order.. that is one of the reasons I went straight for the 9700.

That's y i don't buy online nor retail versions. I like OEM because they just have an anti-static bag you could see through, 3 weeks ago i got my friend a 9500np Built by Sapphire, successfully modded to 9700pro. A simple software mod, because i found him a L shaped memory 1. I got it for 180Canadian plus tax then charged him 250 for it:)

I bet you could mod a 9500pro into a nonpro. :) Then mod the 9500 nonpro into a 9700nonpro. I must be a genius or something.

I was looking around at pricewatch and I found these specs for a saphire 9500 np.
RADEON 9500 128MB DDR AGP 8X TVO Red PCB 400 mhz Ramdac 275/540 Core/Memory L shape memory.

would I be able to overclock this card to a 9700 pro?
