With my new Sapphire 9800np after 24 hours of non-stop 3dmark03 I've decided to overclock the memory. Since it's 2.86ns Samsung it's rated 355mhz effective but it's only clocked at 290. So a simple push on the slider got me 357mhz right away. The GPU was simply amazing as well, after pushing 379 showed no problem at all and the back of the GPU was only 31C, i pushed further 420mhz still perfect no artifacts or anything. This is a 9800np overclocked higher than the freq of a 9800XT. This was done of course after new cooling, I attached a copper based generic CPU cooler, and hacked up the other half of my 1700+ processor heatsink and used it as ramsink on the front side. Then used Thermaltake ramsinks on the back. I'm going to borrow my friend's digital camera so i'll try to take a couple pics of the card and post it here. But i still don't think i'm at the limit of my card yet, the back of the GPU's never past 38C. I'm sure i could push further. I just did Aquamark3 and got 52000 Aquamarks i was VERY happy.

Nice OC for your 9800NP. Does it look like a Vid Card or a big fan?

I'm facing another problem the card's too heavy so it's already bending on the inner side of the card. So now i gotta find a way to support it from snapping.

I'm at 432/380 i'm not sure how much further i can push this thing, temp's not an issue, i think it's the voltage that's limiting me.

I promised myself never to try a voltage mod, but i think i might try it when i get extremely bored.

Uh oh. Wouldnt recommend a volt mod on air cooling lol. You said a generic copper based cooler? I hope you mean a cpu cooler not a gpu one. If so, how did you attach it?

Of course CPU 1, i drilled 2 holes and used some industrial epoxy, stuck two screws in there which went through the mounting holes on the video card and i also put a little bit of epoxy on the shim just to make sure 100% contact, with the GPU.

If you have some spare cash then try the volt mod. Even if it goes wrong its all experience. I bet you could get it over 450mhz without too much trouble. Then you could sell that for loads more than you payed for it lol.
