New xbox won't connect my wireless network

brand new xbox 360 will not connect to internet, it has built in wifi and it will scan and pull up our router and let me put in the password but then when it does a test it fails everytime, my oldest son has an older xbox 360 that we had to get an external wifi adapter for and it works great but the new ones both are giving me the same problem, i have even manually input the ip address, sub net mask, gateway, and both dns numbers and still wont connect, not sure what to try next, thanks
