Is my computer good for gaming?
I recently got a Toshiba Satellite l955-s5362. I was wondering if its good for gaming or should I just avoid downloading games on it? If not what can I do? I'm not the most tech savy so that's why I'm here.
I would say yes and no. You should be able to play most games on it but to the degree of them being "playable" I am not sure if the Toshiba will live up to your expectations. With that said I have games on worse rigs so give it a shot and see what happens, you most likely will need to turn down some settings.
No and the reason is "Mobile Intel HD Graphics" is integrated graphics. You might be able to load some games but quality will be very low and so will the frame rate. You would have been much better of getting one with an AMD A-Series APU or full dedicated graphics.
Thanks to a black friday sale I was able to pick up a 1st gen A8 laptop for $330 and it can run Skyrim without any problem and it still looks great.
This list of laptops at Newegg are ones with the AMD A-Series in it. Since I'm guessing it is too late and you already have that one from OfficeMax it is just to show you what I'm talking about for cheep but powerful laptops that are better then ones with integrated graphics. And before anyone goes bashing AMD keep in mind that wail Intel has the lead in the CPU side of things; AMD has the lead in graphics with their AMD Fusion chips that the A-Series is a part of. Intel is trying to play catchup with the Haswell's coming out March-June 2013.
