Have had a couple of other Bartons that have reached around 2.2G (Never with 200 FSB though :( ) but trawling through Ebay one day i saw iu guy offering a guarentee(or your money back) that these particular Bartons(AQZFA - 2500) would run at 11*200 no problem. He was wrong! it runs at 11.5 *200 at only 1.7v and temps at 32-40.

My point being that surely this chip (with the new stepping) has cemented its position as the undisputed Bang for Buck king?

personally i think the 2500 is great value for a budget chip but it just cant stand up to the almighty 2.6c which goes easily past 3.2.

therefore for value/performance the 2.6 is better value. im sure most people would agree with that

Surely though you have to take into account the retail prices?

In the uk the 2500 is around 70 pounds
the 2.6c is around 150 pounds

but thats only my opinion-both are fantastic chips(weve never had it so good.)

My first AQXEA would do 2.3ghz 1.8v (0324). My current 2500 is sitting at 2.4ghz on 1.73v (AQXEA 0330). All I need now is some corsair 3500...

Speeduk i think you should do a voltage mod on the mobo chipset.

Have`nt seen what stepping I`ve got but my 2600 Barton is hitting 2.3g @ 1.8v on air. Strange thing is my old 2400XP was getting 2.4g @ 1.85 but even if I up the voltage to 1.9v on the 2600 it won`t hit 2.4. Does anyone know anything about a product called `THERMALTAKE A1619 SubZero4G`? I`ve read the reviews but I`d like to hear from THG members rather.

Oh, that's nice. I didn't know that mobo allowed you to change chipset voltage.

My A7N8X didn't allow voltage change on the chipset, but it reached 230FSB.

Good board (A7N8X), a friend of mine got his XP2500+ up to ~2.4GHz on that board. Said he could probably push it further with different ram.

Wusy, I've seen the XP2500+ get as high as 2475MHz 225x11 on the Via KT600 chip (liquid cooling).

Why is it that you don't like Via?
Did you have a bad experience with Via, or did you just like nVidia so well that Via just didn't seem worth it?

The only experience I have with Via is their KT266a chipset which was a rather stable chipset, so I'm not as familiar with their flaws.
Specifics are appreciated.

VIA sucks because it doesn't allow you to lock the AGP/PCI frequency, while the nForce2 does which enables much higher FSB overclock.

I have the 8RDA3+ board. I am looking for some second hand corsair 3500 and run the FSB over 220mhz to more or less max my system out.

Wow, that is bad.
I suppose I never noticed because I never overclocked with a Via chipset.

On a similar topic, a friend of mine has an XP2500+ (AQXEA) and a board with a KT600 chipset in it.
Do you think it can hit 200MHz FSB?
The rest of his system can handle it pretty easily.

If it can't, maybe I'll try to get him to trade me for my brand new XP2500+ (AQZEA).

Well KT600 is meant to handle up to 200FSB so i think it shouldn't have a problem. I'm not sure if it supports AGP/PCI locking however.

Thanks for the info.
Maybe I can still convince him to trade me for mine then.

I made a mistake earlier, that 2475MHz (225x11) was on an nVidia chipset not the VIA KT600 like I posted above.

Sorry it took so long to respond.
I couldn't get a hold of the guy.

The mobo was an EPoX EP-8RDA3+ (I think that's the model)
Corsair PC3700 (DDR466)

CPU voltage 1.8V
Ram Voltage 2.9V

Corsair watercooling with a home built base plate for the water block using the peltier effect.
temp = 12C :')

BTW, wusy, I could use your help on a problem (VIA).
Details are in the "Barton 2500 OC issue here" thread.

Edited: Just read you are not here. Maybe someone else can help.

Don't know.
It's actually rather good for a homebuilt rig.
There's no temp problems.

He hasn't even started to mess with the multiplier settings.
He could probably push his system a lot further, but he's far too cautious.
Maybe he just doesn't like it when his processor thaws out.

In any case, he's working on a compressor system for himself.
He said he might just give me his water cooler if he can perfect the compressor.
He's using the compressor off of a deep freezer from the store he works at.
Some accident tore up the side of the freezer, so he got to salvage some parts.

Granted those are good temps compared to standard w/c, but 0-2c full load would be the norm.

I do have an idea for this freind of yours...

Instead of making just a refrigeration system and putting it on the cpu, draw heat off of the pelt which is mounted on the cpu, by having a lower hot plate temp his system temps will fall lower than the standard refrigeration system would run it at.

Blast, he actually likes the idea.

Now I only get the Corsair watercooling system.
He's keeping the pelt section.

You and your good ideas.
I guess I shouldn't complain though, I am getting a $200 portable water cooler for free.
