this is the info you need for the Q65 express chipset regarding the cpu upgrade options :)

to be honest dont bother upgrading your cpu as it wont support ivy bridge cpu's depending on what you are using now. just upgrade gpu and memory

go to the motherboard manufacturer site and look up the make and model. on its page you will see a compatability list, spec sheet and more. everything you need to know is there.

ok it seems i have NVIDIA GeForce 9100 Chipset and the mother board is Pegatron M2N78-LA and im trying to upgrade to AMD FX-8350 Vishera 4.0GHz (4.2GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 125W Eight-Core Desktop Processor FD8350FRHKBOX

This motherboard supports only AM3 processors
Memory support is limited to DDR3 modules only.
HyperTransport 3.0
Split power planes allow separate power management for CPU and integrated memory controller for improved power savings.
Supports the following processors:
AMD Phenom II X4 9xx/9xxe/8xx Quad-Core (Deneb)
AMD Phenom II X3 7xx/7xxe Triple-Core (Heka)
AMD Phenom II X2 5xx (Callisto)
AMD Athlon II X4 6xx/6xxe (Propus)
AMD Athlon II X3 4xx/4xxe (Rana)
AMD Athlon II X2 2xx/2xxe (Regor)
This is my computers compatability i am also going with the nvidia 650 ti card so can i do this or is it not compatabale

Thanks For the help sorry to be a pain lol

nope your board is an am2 board not am3
it doesnt support am3 cpus only am2 so you will be limited to phenom not phenom 2.
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=uk&lc=en... going by that link.

if this is the case then you may as well jump platform alltogether and go intel...
a cheap none overclocking motherboard say an h77 or p77 along with an intel i5 3450/3470 and some ddr3 1600 cas8 ram will give you a great base for which you can add any gfx card you choose from a 620 up to a 690 without any fear of bottlenecking.
if you choose to stick with your current board you will start bottlenecking with any card greater than a 650ti or 660 on single threaded games.

yeah i see the difference. which aint much. a couple of resistors have been changed for capacitors and a bios change...
so in that case the best cpu for you would be a phenom 2 960 or better.(1090t 0r 1100t) turban cores are currently the best amd gaming parts.
but dont bother with the fx buldozers or piledrivers they just aint good at single threading which most games run on.
