I am looking for a software/hardware solution to test the total throughput of a computer/server. Basically, I need to know the total throughput of all network adapters.

You can try transferring data from one PC to another. That will at least give you an idea of the minimum throughput.

There are benchmark tools for testing networks, but I've not found one I trust much.

I've used Qcheck. It's free and seems to do the job.
