Stay away from P4S800 and all the new SiS 648FX chipset motherboards. My friend just bought a P4S800, it's HORRIBLE, no dual channel memory support. No locking AGP/PCI, can't reach 240FSB. Just a note on Asus's board, horrible chipset cooling, bad voltage support as well. So P4 overclockers beware SIS is HORRIBLE FOR OC, stay with i865pe or i875p. Anybody read anything on VIA yet?

Can't blame SiS for missing features, that's an Asus trademark for their SiS boards! Seriously, they purposely handicap their cheapest boards in order to assure they only go to the budget computer market. They don't want them to compete with more expensive boards!

Look at the horrible P4S8X, compare that to Gigabyte's version. The Gigabyte board proves it's not the chipset causing problems, but Asus!

It doesn't really matter how good any SiS chipset is, the fact that these are cheaper means Asus will use them on the worst boards possible.

Crash have you read anything on how good the VIA chipset overclocks?

And they actually made P4S800 Deluxe, that makes me angry.

Why would I? VIA has always produced nothing but headaches for me. For just a few bux more than the 648FX you can get the 655FX from SiS. And for a few bux more, the 865PE. The only excuse for single channel is cost cutting on RAM, and the latest version of the 845 fills that nich. From where I'm sitting, VIA has no market position, and that's a good thing.

Hmm so you got a P4 system costing quite a bit of money and slumped on the gfx card. Why didn't you get a cheap amd rig like i did and get a second hand 9700pro or a new 9800np? Even a 2400xp at stock with a 9800np would be faster in new games than a 3ghz p4 and 9600pro.....

My amd rig set me back about £240 (cpu, mem and mobo) compared to £380 to get a 2.6 some 3500 memory and a good mobo. With the money I saved I got a second hand 9700pro and my system is as fast as a p4 3ghz + 9800pro 'coz the 9700pro is a good clocker....
