First of all I would like to say that I don't know much about overclocking, so i'm sorry if i sound dumb to some of you folks. But anyway my question is if I should OC my Barton 2500+ to a 3200+. I've seen a lot of people do it by increasing the FSB to 200 and putting the CPU multiplyer to 10 or 11. But I dont know if I should try this with my PC2100 512 DDR Ram. I don't know if it will change anything but I just want to make sure if I should or not. My mobo is a Abit nForce2. If I shouldnt OC it to a 3200 how much should I OC it? Oh and what would be the best fan for the OC'ing because I currently have a stock fan and need a new one for the overclocking? Please give me some feedback. Thanks a lot.

as far as i know its impossible to do that with that ram. its pretty hard to get it that high with good ram.

I wouldnt even both OC unless you have at least pc 3200, could get maybe 193x11 which is 3200 speeds. But Id recommend pc 3500 and drop the multiplier to 10 and set the clock to 215 to get about 3300+ - 3400+ speeds. This way will give you a big jump in your score. If you drop the multiplier to 10, you could get pretty darn high clock speeds up to 225. Any higher is water cooling time.

For overclocking your CPU, you need at least PC3200 DDR memory. This way, you can increase your FSB to 200MHz and instantly get a 3200+. Also, do you already have a 2500+? I doubt it though because if you do, you are probably running it under default clock speed because of your RAM. Your ram can only do 133MHz, while the default FSB speed for the 2500+ is 166MHz (PC2700). Btw, you didn't mention what motherboard you have. Is it an nForce2 board?

He should be able to get that chip to about 220mhz clock speed, just depends on how good the ram is. The only trick is that if you decide to use the dual channel mode, you cannot got over 400fsb or you will encounter error issues.
