guys, im really stuck here, i run 3dmark03 and i compare my system to one almost identicle to mine (actually had EXACT same clock speed on cpu) and i go down and look at cpu score, and mine is HALF his... same fsb, same clock, even same fricken chipset on mobo and vidcard D: i need mad help, anyone have a clue what it could be? im getting to the point where im thinking maybe a fresh windows install would fix? but before i waste 2 hours doing that i would appreciate some suggestions, and common things that occur that bog down your cpu, thank you

Try closing all other programs when running the benchmark- make sure nothing is running in the backround. Something must be stealing resources for the score to be that low.. or perhaps the benchmark is just not reading correctly. Try downloading Sisoft Sandra, its a free benchmarking program that a lot of people use, and it will give you something else to compare to.

Make sure that the CPU and the RAM have plenty of juice. Other than that looks like some software in your background is hoggin up resources. Run a Disk Scan and Drfrag the HD.

Always a newer install of windows would give higher points but not by much. Also if windows got hosed up by errors made by ram/CPU and a dump would be required. Try running the memtest86 and focus on test 4-6 to see if the rig bombs those.

Also disable any useless integrated peripherals on the mobo, not certail if that would make a difference but would give faster boot.

F-DISK-Format-Reinstal DO DA!! DO DA!!

This might sound stupid.. but if everything is shut off in the background check for spyware. I've heard of cases where spyware bogged down performance close to 30%.

Spyware is some crappy stuff. I advise everyone I know to goto downloads.com and download 'Ad Aware 6.0' That has fixed a lot of performance problems in my friend's computers. My one friends laptop would take 10 minutes to boot, and another 5 to open a blank internet screen. I ran ad-aware (found 1000 objects if anyone has run this before :) ) and the thing ran like it came outta the box. Good program, try that.

Ad Aware pissed me off because after installing that I couldn't run Edonkey or Kazaa Lite. I had to format my computer in order to get those sharewares working again.

Ad aware lets you pick the files to save or not. If ya knew what files those file share programs used, then you can just not select to delete them.
