Hi. I got a 1998 Chevrolet Malibu. The battery has gone dead and there is a theft deterrent system on the radio. There is a special code to type in and it unlocks it. I forgot the code. Is there a way to reset it? I was thinking either the fuse or disconnecting the memory wire to the radio. Thanks.

call the manufacturer or car dealer they have the code on file

No, you type the code in yourself. In order to set up the deterrent system you make your own code. Is there a way to reset it without bringing it to the dealer?

the dealer has a reset code. but if you dont want to go to the dealer i dont know how to help you. Im not sure how much "memory" they(cd players) have so maybe you could wait a while and the caps would eventually lose the energy and the code could be reset.
