The CNPS7000A-ALCU is fairly quite on silent mode. about 20dB you can't hear that so it's highly recommended if you're looking for silent cooling.

-Intel PIV 2.6C @ 3.575G -Asus P4P800 -OCZ Copper 2x256 4000EL memory @ 275mhz 3-4-4-8 -Sapphire 9800np @ 432/760 -SB audigy -120G Maxtor Diamond Plus9 S-ATA150 hdd -450 Enermax PSU

and even watercooling requires a fan to cool the radiator (unless one has a HUGE radiator), since the rad cannot disipate heat very well without forced air

mmm .. think I formulated myself a bit wrong... a bit rusty english...

I know that I cannot have a cooling solution without a fan. But the problem with all reviews is that they measure how good the coolers are when they use their fan, and not how good their core is.

What if I wanted to buy a good cooler, put another fan on it, so I could modify it to be more silent. I guess I would have a better shot at succeeding if the core is good.

but I will look at your suggestions...

thx
