How do I fix random fps drops

So for a while now my computer has been experiencing these random fps drops when every I play games on it. It doesn't matter what game I play, the same thing always happens. 10-15 minutes after I start playing the fps suddenly drops to unplayable levels, after about 30 seconds it stops only to happen again about 3 mins later. I tried everything from checking temperature to adding RAM to upgrading my entire system to no avail.

My system spec.
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E6850 @ 3.00GHz 3.00GHz
RAM: 8Gigs
OS: Win7 64-Bit
Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce 9800 GT

This happened to me too. I had a GTX 660 Ti and it did the exact same thing. It turns out it was a faulty card and I was able to replace it because I had the warranty. It worked fine after that.

There are other things it could be, but some people have reported success with it so far.

If you have lots of files on your C: drive and it's a bit of a mess try PreCacher v1.0.2.0 LE first.
