Hi

Today I recieved my Barton Athlon XP 2500+ and fitted it on my MSI K7N2 Delta ILSR mobo with a 512MB Stick of Corsair XMS 166MHz RAM and it ran fine.

Anyway, I tried upping the Miltiplyer a bit but is was locked (all new Bartons are locked).

So, I though "what the hell" and tried my system at 200MHz FSB, I thought that ram wasn't going to like it.

Here I am now with an instant 3200+ with 200MHz FSB and RAM running in sync and it's so far rock solid. I have been doing some video encoding and it's been fine. Temps are the same for my AXP 1600+ that I used to have in there, wow! It idles at high 30s to low 40s and under real stress can get up to 50.

That was really easy, although I don't plan to go any higher, this is great, and I've saved about 200 quid!

Will the overlocked ram be ok in the long term, so should I really get some 400FSB stuff?

I have viewed this site on my Am386DX-40! it works!!

what? no

You have pc3200 ram now, lol. If it runs at 200 (4oomhz ddr) then you are fine. The ram will last.

If it isn't a P6 then it isn't a procesor
