I'm wondering if it is possible to connect a home network to a remote computer through Dialup then share the remote's internet connection.
ICS was built to allow a home LAN to access the internet through one of the computer's dialup connections, but could you use this sharing computer to dial into a friend's modem and then share their highspeed connection? Here are a few dilemnas I thought about:
* Will a private ip address be able to be assigned to the
remote computer or could you just use it's global ip to
communicate?
* ICS would have to be installed on the remote to share
with the home LAN, but the home LAN would have to have
ICS to share with the rest of the home network. Usually
you can't have ICS on two computers at the same time, but
would you even need it running on the remote host?
* How does Virtual Private Networking and every thing else
tie into this?
If any one has any information about this odd procedure please post it.
