ugh i have to stop being over excited LOL

are there 2600 and 2700 Bartons now?

or is it just the 2800?
and the others are thoroughbreds?
I was told that the Bartons were more forgiving on newbie overclockers :)

There's 2600+ Barton's, you could find them at newegg. it's about a hundred bucks for retail.

I just picked up a 2600+ Barton AQZFA 0338RPMW and it OC's very nicely. Right now its at 178 X 12 2138MHz and staying at 36C with the stock heatsink. I'm not going to push it anymore untill I get a better psu. Right now I'm on a 300w A1 unit. Going to get an Antec or Enermax at the next PC show on the 22d.

Sorry if this has been asked, all I've seen in the mulititude of threads I've viewed is complaints about it, but would you know if there is a valid reason they'd lock it? I mean, besides they want you to pay more to get faster chips? I've just been curious about this...

"They said it all: http://www.overclockers.com/articles868/

They are also the guys who first found this out."

Yes, that does say it all. Thanks for the link, now I sympathize with the complaints... Before I just kinda wondered...

The irony here is, if they didn't lock their procs, it seems like they'd have the powerusers recommending them pretty much across the board... The term "core market alienation" comes to mind...
