What I would like is suggestions for a replacement for my tri-mode Samsung
A-650. Priorities are: 1) good reception, 2) real world standby battery
life far beyond the 60hr. ("spec." is a wildly optimistic 240 hrs.) I get
now, 3) no analog capability, 4) Speakerphone, 5) external display. In
other words plain vanilla. I may have to live with a camera phone.

Suggestions?

What is the real world (as opposed to the "spec.) standby battery life?

Trust me, Jim, you don't want the A670. Battery life stinks---switched to a
LG VX7000, great battery life and unbeatable call clarity and reception--

Samsung has released the A570 as a replacement for the 650. It looks right
up your alley. Plain vanilla but with external display. It's a handsome
looking phone.
