Hello,
My game GTA 4 not working properly.
The game run smoothly at highest settings. But problem is, Consider that I am driving a car in game [ I press just w to run] as soon as i turn the car, the game freeze for less than a second.

It is fine for one time but it is game and it need to hit many keys with timing :o  and it makes the game to freeze until i stop using keyboard!!

My computer meets the minimum requirements for the game and still there is a big trouble!! :fou:  :fou:

Assuming his computer is good enough to run highest settings, it could be things like old/bad drivers, overheating, etc... You need to provide more details than just "the game freeze for less than a second"

Play the game on low. This PC can't handle high settings

Wow, and Athlon X2 and 2GB of RAM. Not nearly enough to max GTA IV. I'm actually shocked it runs at all.

What config I need to run it on max settings?

GTA IV is a very poorly optimized game for PC. Even powerful rigs are known to have problems running it. It is surprising the game runs at highest settings on your machine. I have a Core 2 Duo @ 2 GHz and 4GB RAM with GeForce 9300GS and that doesn't meet the minimum requirements.

Make sure your game is patched to the latest version.

Just a note, you just have to go into Computer > System Properties to get your system specs. You don't need to post up an entire dxdiag log.

I play GTA IV on Very High on a ASUS GTX 680. Idon't agree that GTA IV is not optimized for the PC, as i have no problem and i get SOLID super high Frame rates in it.

These are the result of benchmark tool of GTA 4:

Statistics
Average FPS: 27.16
Duration: 37.12 sec
CPU Usage: 95%
System memory usage: 86%
Video memory usage: 22%

Graphics Settings
Video Mode: 800 x 600 (56 Hz)
Texture Quality: Low
Render Quality: Low
View Distance: 1
Detail Distance: 29

Hardware
Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate
Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate
Video Adapter: AMD Radeon HD 6670
Video Driver version: 8.17.10.1151
Audio Adapter: Speakers (High Definition Audio Device)
AMD Athlon(tm) II X2 240 Processor

27 FPS is still good to play the game any way. But that doesn't remain the same. When any new event occures in game, it drops down to very very low FPS.

I just want to complete the game any how and according to http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri my PC meets the min requirement!

You never tried to play the game on the PC when it came out or even a year after it's release.

You are right but now we have the new Kepler cards which are faster. I think on the year in which GTA IV was released the 9000 series where introduced. However, that ain't a problem now, also seriously GTA V is going to be released so shouldn't we looking to upgrade the PC to meet its Specs? Well, i think my GTX 680 is enough to handle that because i spend a damn lot of my pocket money to get a GTX 680 and i ain't thinking of upgrading anytime soon. :)

I just can't understand the meaning of playing GTA IV on SLI configuration, because two 9800 GT in SLI (I don't know whether it support SLI or not i am just taking it as a example) is slower than a GTX 680. I mean, who would want to play it in old cards in SLI?

As for your problem Shubham16feb,

(I'm sorry I can't help you if you run Windows XP, because i have Windows 7, but if you run Windows 7 or Windows Vista in your PC, I can help you out.

1. Go to start and open Run,
2. Type in 'msconfig' and press enter, a System Configuration window will open
now.
3. Now, select the third tab 'Services'.
4. Now, there will be a huge list ( :D  ) out of that you will have to find - Windows Event Log and Windows Event Collector.
5. Now you will have to UN - tick both.
6. Now press Apply and then OK.
7. What 7.? you are good to go, ENJOY :D .

What difference does taking off event logging do?

Event logging tracks keyboard movements which slows down the game.

Way to necro.

Pretty sure that's not what event logging does.
