Considering the Zalman 7000 Cu and AlCu.

The Cu cools better (0.20C/W vs 0.22C/W), but it's almost twice as heavy (773g vs 445g). Specifically, the Cu is heavier than the recommended HSF weight for P4 CPUs (450g). Is that a bad thing? Would it be better to go with the AlCu?

eh, all CU will cool better (marginally, according to your numbers), probably cost a little more. i wouldn't worry about the intel weight specifications since you'll have the IHS protecting the core. then again if you move your case around a lot...maybe the lighter version would suit you better. personally i'd go for the all copper because performance is what i seek over anything else (as long as the money restriction isn't TOO huge). but the ALCU will serve you pretty much just as well, according to your numbers. (maybe you should try to find a few more reviews to verify those).

The only site I saw that compared them both said the following: The AlCu has the following advantages:

1.) Lighter
2.) Cheaper
3.) Cools Better

The CU had the following advantange:

1.) You can brag that it's all copper.

Hehe, this is another one of those "Theory/Practice" problems. The Cu works better in theory, the only test I've seen that compared the two in the real world showed the AlCu working better in practice.

I would go for full copper, because it's possible to crush my CPU, or snap my mobo.

Don't forget having a 2 pound piece of metal come falling down a foot and crash through your new GeforceFX 5900, then come to a stop on your professional sound card (that's the reason that they put the AGP port on top, so the graphics card will protect your other PCI cards!)

I know what everyone's been wondering - 2^33634943-1 IS NOT PRIME. Now, wasn't that worth running Prime95 for a month to know?
