Hi all experts, I know my questions are probably being asked thousand times, but hoping some of you would solve me mistery.

I got a Qbic 3401
P4 2.6c
Kingston Dual PC3200 2x256 value ram
Lite-on combo drive
Maxtor SATA 80G
Logitech MX 700 cordless mouse and keyboard

Try following the OC guide and got the FSB to 235, RAM at 400 Mhz timming 3-4-4-8-8.
Run Prime95 overnight and was fine but the Soltek hardware monitor showing the CPU temp is 60 degree +/- 1 degree.
RT2 temp is 47 +/- 1 degree. Is my CPU running too hot? What is the save temp. for this CPU?

Another question is I used the task manager to watch the processes and Prime95 was only using CPU 50%. So I guess I wasn't really doing it right? What am I suppose to get out of Prime95?

Should I use another application to test it? Any recommendations?

Thanks guys

Change your stock heatsink to a new one. get the best HSF such as copper ones from Thermalright out there and then OC it.

AMD Athlon XP 2500+@2.15GHz
Abit KD7-RAID
Seagate Barracuda V 80GB
3*256MB Kingston PC2700

Turn your FSB back down, since you're using stock cooling. And what's Vdimm at? If it's anything higher than 2.7, then you're killing your ram. Run the FSB at 220, then i'm sure the temp will be fine.

Guess what I got a new SLK947u and a 92mm fan sucking air from it and now with Soltek HM the CPU temp is 36-49, System is 30-34. Hope it is telling the truth.
I had to disable the SMART fan control to keep the fan moving, otherwise it is running around 990.
I have my Vdimm at 2.7 as you have suggested in your guide but Ithink Kingston said this is 2.5v. I run Prima95 last night and it was fine, though using task manager I see that CPU is only 50% not running full load, any idea how to set Prima95 to use the CPU 100% ?

Run Prime95+PCmark2004, and Sisoft Sandra at the same time. Trust me your CPU WILL be stressed.

Soltek Hareware Monitor doesn't tell the truth, use MBM5.

Don't worry about the Task manager only showing your CPU at 50%, it's actually at 100%. The P4C series has HT which means that the OS sees your CPU as 2 differenct virtual processors and since every processor can only work on one thread (like running Prime95) than only one processor is being used (you can show one graph per CPU in the task manager and see for yourself). HOWEVER, Intel was very smart when using HT and CPUs use it very efficiently so in fact, your CPU is at it's peak performance and not at 50% as the Task manager says.

I know what everyone's been wondering - 2^33634943-1 IS NOT PRIME. Now, wasn't that worth running Prime95 for a month to know?

Thanks, that's explain it and so if I could run all the test in Prime95, I am good with my OC, right?
And yes to 2.6c with HT.

The test won't ever end buy if you keep it overnight and there are no errors, you should be fine.
If you wanted to see 100% in the Task Manager you could run to instances of Prime95 by typing "C:\Program Files\Prime95\Prime95.exe" -a in Start -> Run. (providing it was installed in the default folder)
