I'm building up a new system, and can't decide between these 2 boards. Want to buy soon. They're about the same price. 2600+ Barton, want to overclock it, but also need it to be stable.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

There aren't many reviews on the An7 yet. It seems that it might be better at O/cing, and has the useful Guru software, but has less features and the first version bios isn't as stable. The Asus is supposed to be very stable, gets great reviews, and I think version 2 has better O/cing options. Not sure if the Abit's onboard sound is as good as the Asus, either.

The Abit, hands down! The Asus board is dated, expensive and doesn't have the performance of the Abit. I don't know who ever called the Asus board an overclocker. Don't waste your time/money on the Asus!

To tell you the truth, the AN7 is not a great overclocker, considering the its ancestor, the Nf7-S Rev2 overclocks much better than it, and it costs less. So my vote goes to the NF7-S, if that's not an option, then i vote for the A7N8X-E deluxe, i like the features of that board.

Scottchen is right. I just finished an NF7-S. A one-armed monkey could build one. The board is feature-packed and was a steal at $84.00! Stick some Mushkin Basic Green in it and you are ready to "clock"!
