They are selling 12v compressors at the local automotive shop for $9.99(Australian).
I'm wondering if I can use the compressor to run my own refrigerated CPU cooling setup.
I figure I can dismantle it & with a bit of braising here & there, create my own cooling system.
Any comments or advice.

It would be easier to get a de-humidifier...by the time you buy all the parts and charge the thing you would have enough to buy a small A/C unit which would perform better than both.

Well, I don't know what I'm doing, when it comes to water cooling a CPU. I'm an engineer (Automotive) & though it would be fun to read up on what's required for a water cooled system. I thought I'd make the bits required & see what I can produce.

I just had to ask the (uninformed) question as the compressors are on offer & I didn't want to miss out if they could be used.

Have a good New Year (as if it means anything).

Yes, you wouldn't need a compressor for a water chilled system would you.

I figured a 'fridge' cooler would be quieter than a water cooler, that was my original appeal. I did read that you can have a water cooled setup, going to a reservoir buried in the ground, to keep it cool. I suppose that setup wouldn't require any fans. Just toying with ideas as I am having cooling problems (other thread).

I supose all I really want is a silent PC. I don't need sub-zero either, just quiet efficient cooling.

Maybe when I upgrade I'll look at water cooling.

Stop doing things halfway.

Erect a proper cooling tower on your roof and use it to cool your computer. See Marley for ideas.

$hit if a person is going to go to all the trouble of using a cooling tower to cool their computer they might as well use an indirect cooling system. LOL

Have you guys checked out the Computerator project at PCRivals? the site hasn't been updated in a while, but for about 40 or 50 bucks it got the thing cooled to -17
