Alright, let's move along please. It's not against the ToS to have a different, yet understandable style of writing.
March 13, 2012 4:07:01 PM

well aford10 the thread is about trolling isnt it now? LOL :)
and riser in a very polite way was somewhat being a grammar troll LOL
so really isnt off topic is it?

I will say that I have no hard feelings for riser
there are many other worse newer members lately on the forums
I have been on Toms for almost two years now and lately I have been shocked at some of the newer members behaviour on the forums
some really bad advice being given and then when you prove them wrong they get insulting
I just need a few more BAs for CPUs to get my gold badge and I hesitate on some of the thread to answer now
I stay away from hardware recommendations completely now due to so many fanboys being so rude
At least riser was very polite and semi-respectful LOL :)
March 13, 2012 4:16:17 PM

Then by all means, continue. :)

I was wondering if it was just me noticing lately that it is very hard to go on some threads without having somebody provoking you?

Maybe it is my fault
Maybe the way I present myself antogonizes some people
I do know chatting with some other long time members that they have been having issues themselves even to the point of being harassed on the PMs

So has anybody else noticed more "drama" lately on the forums or is just from my perspective?
March 13, 2012 4:49:22 PM

I'm not publically doing anything against you. In my mind I'm trying to come to a conclusion as to why you are so unique in your posts. If it were common with other members it wouldn't play on my mind as much as it is. But you stand out and I wanted to make sure my conclusion that I had already came to in my mind matched the reality of your psyche.

And in fact it does, moreso than I even had thought.

Any chance you suffer from OCD? Maybe mistaken for a form of ADD or ADHD? You and a friend of mine display the same characteristics of lifestyle. They thought he had ADD/ADHD but it turned out he had severe OCD in a reverse manner where he could never stay on track, always diverging by obsession to never being stuck on one thing. In his thirities he realized it and turned his OCD into something very productive and is living a very comfortable lifestyle while playing off his 'disability' which is now a strength.

I'm not trying to play doctor, merely comparing yourself to a long time friend that I grew up with. He didn't post like you.. but he was quick with one lines, never writing much after that.. which made me think of him when reading your posts. :)

Technical diagnosis- Bipolar Manic Depressive with delusions of grandeur, paranoia, poor impulse control, self medicating behavior,OCD,poor anger management, auditory hallucinations, anal retentive behavior

now mind you I have been treated since 1994 or so
I had three stays in a psychiatric ward of a hospital
each stay approx 2 weeks
last episode in 2001
very functional
people around me are shocked to find out I am mentally ill
I do suffer from OCD
I need to have things organized usually in a symmetrical manner
I will suffer seeing pictures hung crooked to the point of irrationality
I do alot of number counting which is hard to explain
for example during windows installs (I do many) I have to compusively count
during progress bars

well I dont want to bore anybody and go off topic
if you would like to talk riser please feel free to PM me
dont worry I am on my meds LOL :)

Actually users on the forums have been very good lately.

Seriously.

Which section? There is always drama in News & Leisure. Can you give some examples?
March 14, 2012 1:20:16 PM

I haveseen it on the CPUs and Graphics sections
alot of AMD vs Intel or AMD vs Nvidia fanboism that has gotten really insulting
but I guess that is normal?
like I said it could be a matter of my perception
March 14, 2012 1:24:14 PM

Ugh, I hate those arguments. Both Intel and AMD make great products. Neither is better than the other. Pick one, plug it in and move on for crying out loud!
March 14, 2012 1:32:11 PM

while I do like certain companies just from good past experiences
I would never get emotionally involved in any company
For example I like Asus,MSI,Antec and Logitech
but if I saw a great deal on another brand I would get it
and I wouldnt get insulting towards somebody over a brand

and reynod is a mod and he says that users have been good lately
so that pretty much answers my question
I guess it has been a matter of my perception of the threads I have been on
not a overall sampling of the entire forum

I am still avoiding any parts recommendations due to fanbois
March 14, 2012 1:45:51 PM

If someone is being abusive towards you after an honest recommendation just report them to a mod and it will get taken care of.

I was getting death threats in the news & leisure section by some occupy wall street/anonymous folks. Reynod promptly brought down the ban hammer.
March 14, 2012 2:01:34 PM

death threats?!?

ridiculous
I expect that from the Craigslist rant and raves section but not by toms members

oh well ignorance knows no boundaries or limits I guess
March 14, 2012 2:13:13 PM

Oh yeah. They said they would beat me and my family to death with baseball bats.

They said they had my IP address and know where I live, blah blah blah.

Then they ended it with "we do not forget, expect us". Oh and the Guy Fawkes mask for their avatar was also a clue.

Ridiculous, yes. It's all good though. I have a conceal carry permit and regulary carry. Bring it on!
March 14, 2012 2:18:30 PM

really that is so ridiculous that you had to deal with that on toms
I think I will stay away from the news and leisure section LOL
March 15, 2012 12:12:45 AM

AMD IS THE BESTEST PROC IN THE WERLD PEOPLE! YOU R ALL SO DUM!!!11!!

:)
March 15, 2012 12:29:57 AM

hee hee hee hee
good one riser LMAO

I have owned Intel and AMD and like them both
I have owned Nvidia and ATI/AMD and liked them both

I am somewhat of a quiet Logitech fanboy I must admit
I really do like my Logi mice and keyboards
but I wouldnt mind a R.A.T. LOL
March 15, 2012 12:32:17 AM

I realized because of you riser that I write like I speak on the forums
I am also a frustrated poet
other members besides you have commented BTW
one member described my writing style as bad haiku LOL

March 15, 2012 1:20:48 AM

Have to admit, i'm a Logitech fan as well. Mice, keyboard, headsets. Still using Creative 5.1 surround speakers too. About 8 years old, still going strong.
March 15, 2012 1:28:28 AM

so cool oldmangamer
I have a Creative T4400 4.1 system I got for free on Craigslist that I love
they used to make great sound cards but now I like Asus sound cards better
Creative drivers are too much of a hassle

Glad to see it all worked out OK.

Anyone who threatens others (seriously ... not including being slapped by trout) here gets dealt with promptly.

Usually when a moderator is in one of these threads we get another mod to look at things and deal with it.

Makes it a bit more objective.

Its been a lot better lately and eveyone has a healthy sense of humour here... a bit of banter is ok.

Dont' worry about riser as I got him joined up with a Russian dating service ... he should be getting some e-mails from a weightlifter called Dmitri .... funny name for a chick but hey ... I am doing my best for him.

:)

:)
March 15, 2012 11:50:26 AM

riser is okay
just a natural grammatical "curiosity"
but I am sure that Dmitri will treat him like the sobaka he is
spasiba reynod

Well you were very prompt in dealing with them reynod and for that I am appreciative as they were spamming my private inbox like crazy.

I love to debate and banter but by no means do I mean anyone harm.

Do you have any pictures of Dmitri?? :)
March 15, 2012 12:01:01 PM

from an inside source deep in the bowels of Toms I found this picture of Dmitri

she is a little hairy but kind of cute dont you think?
March 15, 2012 12:19:36 PM

*Walks in the room carrying a wet trout and promptly slaps the poo out of Rey-nerdo*

*leaving for now*
March 15, 2012 12:31:33 PM

hee hee hee
Dont worry riser
Dmitri will be good to you
Long hot bubble baths and deep happy ending massages
It could be the beginning of a long and beautiful relationship
One problem is that Dmitri does speak poor pidgin English and makes
many grammatical mistakes
But you can learn to live with that cant you?

(hee hee I had to do that;all in fun;no hard feelings LOL)
March 15, 2012 1:03:01 PM

She won't be leaving the kitchen unless it is to go to the store to buy me beer. I won't have to read anything she writes.

Besides, you've already misinterpreted the name of her. Dmitri is Greek. You don't even know her name since people refer to her as Dmitri's goddess daugther.
March 15, 2012 1:10:34 PM

dont forget she can bench over 250lbs and make love allll night loooong

hey on a different note
I have been self teaching myself how to do video editing
so use game footage as practice
so if I can get an honest critique of my editing (not gameplay or FPS) I would appreciate it

I did it in 1080p 5.1 surround (H264/mp4) using FRAPS and Cyberlink PowerDirector 9 but it came out to 600mb which was too big to upload using my stupid Wireless G connection I am temporarily on.
So I used Handbrake and compressed the 600mb to 36mb
the original footage looks much better

I want to expand my computer repair business by doing video work for home videos like wedding, bar mitzvah, rock and rap musicians etc

so let me know how my titles, transitions, audio fades are

thanks
March 15, 2012 1:31:36 PM

Ah I can bench about 275 right now. :)  Moving away from heavier lifting and transitioning into more of a general fitness, more power over strength. I've been slacking off for a while and this weekend it starts full force.
I'm pushing 260lbs.. a guy I work with is 6'4" and 300lbs. He makes me look little he's chunky, I'm not. Need to shed some of that muscle size.. simple increase in power over strength.

I don't do much with videos but I am going to report you to the mods for spewing your pr0n :)
March 15, 2012 1:57:40 PM

Not bad King. I have to say, after watching the vid, I wanna get that game! LOL.

What software are you using for the editing?
March 15, 2012 2:22:59 PM

Cyberlink Power Director 9
Iused Sony Vegas Pro 8 but switched to PD 9
much better GUI and better plug ins
Sony wants to charge you an arm and a leg for plug ins
expensive software but I got a hookup (friend with educational discount)

I am looking to get away from just doing repairs and get into video editing as an extra revenue source
I already have an up and coming young rapper plus a metal band that want me to do their videos plus their printing work (I have a OfficeJet 7310 double sided heavy duty color inkjet ($55 Craiglist -worth $150 used and a Laserjet 3055 B&W ($35 secondhand store-worth over 300 used)
Alot of musicians in New Jersey/NYC area that need printing services and video editing
also hope to set up a small digital recording studio eventually-been studying how to build sound booths-I am a Htg/AC guy so very handy with tools

thanks for checking out the vid
took me about one hour to do
just practicing techniques that would work for wedding/special occasion and music videos
still have alot more to learn

I am 5ft11in and was at 265lbs but dropped to 235lbs
feel stronger and faster at this weight
the 265 was too much
I have a bigger size frame but the extra 30lbs was slowing me down
I want to eventually get to about 220lbs
starting to get my six pack back (actually a 4 pack right now LOL)
waist size went from 44 to 38-40
about a 50 inch chest and 14inch biceps (used to be 17inch bis :(  )
need to do some arm work
they are cut and hard but shrimpy now
not bad for age 42 though
I can still outrun my 10 yr old and play ball with the boys in the neighborhood
during nicer weather I probably put in about 20 miles a week of running and walking
now if I can quit smoking I would really be doing good LOL

Stay off off the roids !!

:)
March 16, 2012 12:48:45 AM

A pic of me in the Caribbean. I'm 6 feet tall, and was about 190lbs. I'm an avid runner, cross country runner, and was really into weight lifting and body building. I was getting 260ish-275ish on a fairly small frame.

In the last few years I've gotten a little lazy, but still in pretty good shape. Marriage and a desk job will cause you to put on a few lbs. :)
March 16, 2012 1:10:05 AM

darn you stud aford10!
(dont worry I am regrettably heterosexual-think it would be easier to be gay and not have to deal with women but man I love the juicy peaches)

tell me about the marriage thing
I was 220lbs 5ft11in when I met my fiance (Wifey or Queen SMP)
we have been together for 6 yrs on 5/20/2012
I was up to 265lb!
45 freaking lbs in about 5 yrs
9lbs a year
now we are separated but together because of her medical issues
will be about six months hopefully b4 we move back in together
in the past three months w/o her I have lost over 30lbs
mainly because of depression dieting (she really came close to death and still isnt out of danger)
just got my appetite back about two -three weeks ago
before that I was mechanically feeding myself-no joy of eating
but I am focused on not gaining the weight back
went from 44 waist to 38-40 and want to keep it that way
so for the past few weeks have been drinking more water and doing very long walks

what are the arm ring tats aford10?
tribal?
March 16, 2012 1:24:43 AM

I know how the lbs can sneak up on a person after marriage. I pray for the best for both of you. Health, weight, petty disagreements, all that aside....if you love each other, that's all that matters. Make it work today. You aren't guaranteed a tomorrow.

Yes, they are just some tribal art that I liked. I've since added the Detroit Tiger's old English D on my left shoulder. A few more are planned, but not at the top of the priority list.
March 16, 2012 1:30:38 AM

Oh no!
Me and my fiance love each other dearly
after her bout with cervical cancer then bleeding blood vessel in brain requiring brain surgery and then multiple seizures followed by a stroke
we decided it was better for her to live with her mom and surrounded by her four sisters and two grown nieces
I love my Wifey with all my heart
She is the only one for me
She is my true love
and she feels the same
we desperatley want to be together but the situation calls for me moving ot my Moms and her staying at her Moms
right now I am up in Jersey City NJ while she is 75mi south
we talk multiple times a day and hang out a few times a week
she is embarassed about the way she looks (3 inch round piece of skull sewn into place and hair cut off)
I told her she looks beautiful and the only way I would be disappointed was if I couldnt look at her again

I have had a few women make it obvious they would "take care" of me in the past few months and it has been a long time since intimate with my Wifey
but I resist
She is my entire world

When you've found that one, nobody else matters. That thing that they can take care of is superficial. I don't want to get too deep, but our lives should be defined by what we do. I pray that your wife recovers and that you have a long life together.

I 100 percent agree
During the past year my wifey has subtly said that if I found a "mistress" on the side "what she doesn't know doesn't hurt her"
BUT what I would know would hurt me
I can't imagine if faced with her on her deathbed how I would feel being unfaithful to her

There is a local pharmacy where there is a twenty-something (I am 41) that is always flirting
will follow me around and tells me multiple times what time she gets off of work
she is cute
one night she tells me she gets off in 8 minutes
so I sat in the parking lot in my car and had an ethical (? moral) dilemma
after five minutes exactly
the thought "no good will come of this" entered my mind
so I turned the key and left the store
I pray constantly
from the biggest to smallest things in my life
Every day I thank the Lord for another day
I am blessed for what I have

is it like earings on a man
I wore earings from age 16-30ish
I heard that in the left ear is hetero
in the right ear is homosexual
wonder if that is true for armbands?

BTW while I dont condone homosexuality I treat all people as individuals
I have a few friends who happen to be gay
Great people and not hurting anybody
Not for me to judge
March 16, 2012 2:46:51 PM

I used to be 6% body fat... used to be. Now I'm up there around 20% I think. It sucks, but luckily I'm stilled toned enough.
The desk job and going out to lunch every day is killing me. Otherwise I eat healthy and small portions. Probably the job stress and whatnot.. but in the last two years I've moved one (house to an apartment), had three different jobs all moving up (meaning the first six months of each you're busting your behind learning everything) and I've been in a relationship which takes up a lot of free time.

I figure 220lbs is a good place for me to be. 210 gave me a six pack but that means I need to really dedicate to maintain. That extra 10lbs is what I'm going to consider a fair trade off.
March 16, 2012 6:04:36 PM

Ok doing this on a nook
Want get one for the family for Cmas
an extra ten lbs is ok for family guys lol
Sorry to get so deep and heavy
Try to keep it light on thg
this nook thing is cool
hope it down to 150usd by Christmas q
March 16, 2012 11:51:01 PM

c'mon we know your all bald fat 40 plus year old guys who live on cola and twinkies ... your not fooling anyone.

That picture of aford is from a TV show Alphas ... the one about the people with special abilities ... he is the guy who has extraordinary fine motor skills.
