Increasing AGP frequency will improve performance?

I know that on boards which don't off the feature of changing/locking the FSB:AGP:pCI ratio the AGP might lower overclocking peak but what if I want to get more out of my video card by increasing the AGP frequency - would it work? How much should I increase the frequency? Would video RAM and or GPU be stressed? Is it best for me to STFU and settle for conventional RAM/GPU OC?

Got a nice overclocked overvolted system to keep you warm at night? That's great. Guess I'll have to settle for a woman...

if you are running agp 2x it might be worth it...

In agp 4x or 8x i just cant beleive there would be any noticable gains...although there is no shame in trying, i would say for an ati card 70mhz would be a safe agp frequency (around 72mhz will be the max) for nvidia your guess is as good as mine, but i would imagine around 75-85mhz would be possible as nvidia cards have always been more forgiving to agp overclocking.

haha no! Every r300 based card i have ever heard of someone trying to overclock the agp bus on has maxed out below 75mhz...you should give it a try.

Does anyone know of a nice third party cooler for a 9700pro? I've see a few that wrap around and such, but they all got bad reviews. And a good one that was fan less would be a nice change... i dunno, its all beyond me sometimes.

AMD XP 2000+, MSI K7N2, 1 Gig DDR 333 (512x2), ATi 9700 Pro, 20gig Western Digital, 80gig Western Digital, Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum, Klipsch ProMedia 5.1, LG 48/24/48/16, Antec TrueBlue 480w PSU

Zalman HP80C-ZM with the silent fan option (OP-1 or something). It's probably as close as you'll get to silent (it is very quiet).

Maxtor disgraces the six letters that make Matrox.

AGP bu boosting is not different than software boosting except you can get in more trouble with it. Just make sure you got very good cooling on it.

Honestly just mount a athlon xp or p4 heatsink on there...it took me an hour to mount a cpu heatsink on my 9500np and it performs flawlessly.
