1080p resolution on a 720p TV?

Hey y'all,

I've got my PC hooked up via HDMI to a 720p plasma TV. The PC has pretty solid specs and is capable of running games at 1920x1080.

Is there any advantage to running the games at 1080p, or should I just stick to the native 1366x768?

  1. Your tv doesn't have 1920x1080 pixels. The best you can do is 1366x768.
  2. No there is no advantage as your TV will just rescle the image to 720P.

There is no real advantage because all the plasma TV is doing is just scaling down the resolution to 720p so that it can be displayed on the screen. You are basically giving up performance (rendering at 1080p and outputting to 720p) for nothing.
