Theory on video capture

ok so i just looked at the back of my computer the other day when i was cleaning up the cords and i noticed the hdmi port i know that this is usually an output but i was curious on whether or not i can turn that output into an input and use it as a capture device for streaming games like if i hooked the one end of the hdmi cord to my xbox and the other to my computer and bridge it

here are the specs of my computer
dell inspiron 560
6gb ram
1tb hdd
3.2 ghz dual core
512 on board video
so let me know does the idea sound good
