I just recently purchased Far Cry 3 and I'm amazed at how poorly my system is running the game. Granted, I'm only running it with one GTX 680 Superclocked (the second was a dud and a replacement is on the way from EVGA, so I will be playing on SLI). Here are my specs:
GPU: EVGA GTX 680 Superclocked (will return to SLI in a week or less)
CPU: Intel i7 3930K
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 4x4GB 1866GHz
Motherboard: ASUS Rampage IV Extreme
I knew that I would get poor performance if I ran the game on my monitor's native 2560x1440 resolution wiuth just one GPU, so I tried playing on 1920x1080. I have the settings maxed out in every respect and I'm only getting 30-35FPS on average, which is really, really poor for such a low resolution, regardless of only having one card right now. Am I really going to need both of my cards just to run this game at 60FPS on 1920x1080 and probably 3 or 4 for 2560x1440? If so, what does that even say about these cards? That they're essentially going to be worthless in March when we'll already have Crysis 3, Bioshock Infinite, and Metro out?
