I want to overclock my Barton 2500+
and dont know how to.
I am using the conventinal cooling solution that came with the Barton Processor.
Now if i want to overclock do i need a good fan. Can u advice which fan can be good for overclocking the Barton 2500+.
AND how much can I overclock it.
I am running the Barton at the standard 1.83 Ghz.
I want it in the range of 2.2 GHz or above. As upgrading to 3200+ doesn't make sense if i can make the 2500+ to overclock and look like a 3200+... please advice.
Me english no is good because i spanish.
Most of the Barton 2500+ can OC to 3200+ with 1.65-1.75V. The cooler is very important but your CPU it doesn't ascend of 55ºC (85ºC is máx suported for your Barton 2500+) not problem.
Your memory is DDR 333 and you need DDR400 for 2500+@3200+ (multiplier 11 x FSB200x2). Your 333 memory máx overclock is de aprox <400Mhz with de >2.7V.
Other combination is 13x166=2158Mhz but your need a CPU not locked and mainboard with posibility that change multiplier from BIOS.
Chao!
My English so bad forgives
Read newbie guide to overclocking first. But yes manuhard is right.. you will want ddr400 memory with good low timings for a solid oc to 3200 speeds(2.2ghz)
For cooling it depends if that's as far as you want to go or not.
Thermalright heatsinks are amazing, but also costly.
As well you will most likely want to purchase a nice airflow case.
Although i'm pissed at antec the super lanboy is a good setup for cooling. I'm not recommending it just showing examples.
You will also want a good psu.
