There are many posts everywere except THG,
about moral and importance of true in publishing.
But THG called this "Waste of Readers time" -
I want to ask - does this not worth to discuss?
And does facts suplied were not checkable clearly to be provided? Does not good Based? -
Worth for attention -is AMD want to good relate with THG better than else averages, with agree og THG?
Amd - want be have restore the good relationships with wideknowing site, often working for intel better that any other like their flag ship ?
Want THG to have compensation, "for true"?
looks like they want to stay ignorant about the whole situation... i had just finished reading that article, and that's sad that THG decided to give the boot to every1 else. wasn't there also something like this with Ace's Hardware and ZD net?!?! sheesh... THG likes 2 get itself into problems... hehe
i hope this doesn't mean that my IP will be blocked from this site because of my comments... i am not dissing the members of the forum... they have ALWAYS been helpful 2 me and are cool.
I felt that Omid Rahmat's comments in this article were unnecessarily dismissive, as well as "over the top". But that's just my take. It's not unusual for "sponsors" to have exclusive right's to an event - happens in television sports as a matter of course.
What bothered me about Mr. Rahmat's letter was the hostile , derogatory manner in which he attacked any and all criticism.
But Officer, I wasn't speeding - I was qualifying ...
After reading the entire article, I have one comment: So?
Ryan Shrout is slowly learning that the press, especially as it gets closer and closer to mainstream, is not a public service, but a business. The notion of a "free press" does not mean that a person has a right to access and publish any information he would like to publish. Free press means that he cannot be prosecuted for publishing opinions and verifiable statements.
Granted, THG is fallible. I recall the debacle between Pabst and Van Smith (circa April 2002) left quite a sour taste in my mouth. That situation was not handled optimally. Vindictiveness is one of my peeves. Later, I attributed my perceptions to lack of tact and questionable word choice on the part of the parties involved. Furthermore, while I have sympathy for Mr. Smith, I do not pity him for working without a contract and not backing up or documenting his body of work.
All in all, it is a person’s or business’s right, and common practice, to grant an exclusive to any outlet that person or business chooses. From the information available, I cannot see that THG or AMD have done anything unethical. Those are the chips. Deal with it.
Omid defended THG damn well, and the only thing he attacked is idiots who will do anything to create a story to demean other websites like the big THG. He even made sure to attack the fanboys, which I so loved.
I don't get you people, Omid is there for one reason, to show you that reality has become pretty sad, websites try to con others, enthusiasts no longer exist and now fanboys roam around, bunch of sadistic die-hards.
