I'm a noob to this overclocking game and was looking for some advice.

My system.

AMD Athlon XP 3000+
Asus Radeon 9800XT
Abit AN7 Motherboard
1 Gb PC3200 400Mhz RAM
Thermalright SP-97 Cooler

My current idling temps at CPU stock is 36 degrees, and goes up to 39 under load, are these ok?

Is my system ready to clock? Can I clock my 9800XT aswell as my CPU?

Any suggestions of max frequencies a 3000+ can reach, also how far can I take my 9800XT?

Thanks

good temps, in line with what you should get with that cooling combo.

All you have to do is enter the bios and increase the FSB, start by increasing it to 210mhz, boot windows if its stable (run prime95 to check stability, google it i am too lazy to find the link) from there keep increasing the fsb in small incraments, say 2mhz until you get lock ups or errors in prime95. I doubt you will be able to take your ram too far, probably after 210mhz you will have to start increasing the Vdimm to keep your system stable. If your ram has heat spreaders dont be afraid to take it to 2.9v (but only if necissary) if your ram doesnt have heat spreaders i wouldnt take it above 2.7v.

About overclocking the GPU download a gpu overclocking program, such as powerstrip and have fun clocking. Play games, if you get artifacts back off.
