Do I need a PC upgrade?

I bought a new PC a couple months ago hoping to be able to run any game out there at least on low, but that isn't the case.

I downloaded the latest driver for my graphics card, I run Game Booster in the background and I configured my graphics card settings towards high performance, but still I get low FPS:
About 10 FPS in FarCry 3 on all of the lowest settings on my monitor's native resolution of 1680 x 1050 and about 20 FPS when I bump that down to something like 1280 x 800.
About 20 FPS in PlanetSide 2 on lowest settings and 1280 x 800
About 20-30 FPS in Skyrim on lowest settings in 1280 x 800. The list goes on...

Here are my specs:
CPU: AMD FX 4100 Quad-Core Processor 3.60 GHz
Vid: NVIDIA GeForce GT 520
Ram: 8GB
Monitor: Generic PnP Monitor 1680 x 1050
OS: Windows 7 Home, 64 bit

I was wondering if this low performance is expected for my setup or if it's under-performing for some reason?
Thanks! :)

Under-performing? Dude with that card im surprised you even get 10Fps in far cry 3 on that resolution.. Your other components are alright. They dont need to be upgraded but please do yourself a favour.. next time you want to buy a budget card do inquire about it on this forum.. That card is not meant for gaming not even the slightest.. Maybe 4-5 year old games but far cry 3 on 1680x1050? hell no bro.. You need AT LEAST a HD7750 or a GTX650 to run that game with smooth FPS on that resolution.. You can tell me your price range and what website you want to buyy it from and i'll suggest the best card that can be had for that price.. and next time look before you leap (That card is a mess..only meant for HTPC)

ok thanks guys. And yeah, the stupid Best Buy people talked me into it haha. Oh well. So how much of an upgrade would the Radeon 7750 be? Would I be able to run just about any game smoothly on 1650 x 1050? (Low settings are fine for me).
