Lo all

I've just gone from an Epox 8KHA+ with a 1600xp FSB'ed to 2000XP. Rock solid no problems ever.

Now I've ??"upgraded"?? to a MSI K7N2 Delta ILSR (smacks forhead against desk repeatedly) and barton 2500xp

Anyway it might not be the board but...

I've set the FSB to 195 vcore to 1.75 and multiplier to 11... bang great overclock 1st time but then locked up. Reset cmos and loaded defaults fine.

The Bios is different from my own so was having a look around memory I've left set to spd as my memmory is Corsair XMS 512Mb DDR 400MHz PC3200 Cas 2 - Low Latency Platinum but the msi is reading it as 7-3-3- CAS 3 if I change these setting the system won't boot afterwards.

So is a crappy mobo or is maybe my PSU not strong enough See sig

The motherboard is great, the only problem those boards have is if you set a really wild overclock in BIOS where it won't post, sometimes you can't clear the setting. They perform flawlessly, etc.

It's your RAM, try overvolting it.

That vcore seems way to high. I set my barton 2500 up to 200fsb, 11x and left the vcore alone at 1.65. I have had no stability issues. My ram is OCZ PC3500EL w/ 2.6 vdimm.
The new 350watt antecs are good but I think that would be the first thing to replace. I wouldn't go under 400-450watt w/ ur comp, but thats just me.

I'm going to wait for a new psu although I was thinking it was the ram (honest)......

Lastly one of the reasons (might be a stupid one thou) why I bought this board was I thought that i could use the pata port on the promise raid as and extra ide channel for one of my hard drives. Any idea of how to set this up ???

Thanks

Crahsman

The RAM is set to 2.7v by the spd and even if I go to manual and set it to 2.7v it posts then - if I set the timings to 6-2-2-2 - crahes and the 'ne nar ne nar' warning note of the speaker is really getting to me now.

Crash if you've got this board can you let me know all your bios setting..... I'd be pathetically gratefully.

I don't have the board any more as it's in a client's PC. But it wouldn't surprise me if the stuff doesn't work at full speed/lowest latencies in dual channel mode. Try 6-2-3-2 and see if it works.

Yeah ur right.

I've got it running at 190fsb but with ramm:ffs set to 1:1 if I mess with anything like the multipier or cpu volts then it locks up.

Does this mean my bartons locked or ???

BTW a new PSU is on the way (enermax 430W) I'll let you know if this helps.

My Barton locked and yeah, if I try to change the multi that's what happens to me.

A reasonable vcore change shouldn't locked it up though.
