Far cry 3 video settings help?

So I just bought and installed far cry 3 and I'm trying to figure something out. When I set the overall setting to ultra only like 3 settings are ultra, a few very highs, and a few highs. I went into custom to try and set everything to ultra and the same thing, only a few will even go to ultra and some of the options only go to high. Its like ultra doesn't exist on those options. I wanna say textures is one of them that only has a high option and environment for example. Why can't I turn everything to Ultra? Or is this how the game is supposed to be and I can't turn everything to ultra. Thanks.

It adjusts to YOUR machine and graphics card... I SUSPECT your card is not good enough for Ultra...

Specs ?

I7 3930 k with sli gtx 680 OC. I don't think it's that cuz even on custom you can't choose very high or ultra.

It does the same with mine, I believe some settings simply have more limited options.

Checked mine and same ..... some games dont have ultra settings on many of the graphics options. No need to worry , def not the card 680 will max anything out currently.

Hi :)

Interesting though, for all their talk of phenomenally high graphics, both your twin cards and my 7990 could obviously run it higher if they let us....

Ok sounds good. Just thought it was strange. I think this is the first game I've come across like this. One more question, on a 24" 1080 monitor what should the fov be?

I Have ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphic Card (Intergreted). It Has 1915 MB But I Try To Run Far Cry 3 and I Can't Seem To Tap 30 FPS, So I Was Thinking I Should Get A New Graphics Card. My PC Specs:
HP Pavilion Dv4 Notebook Series
AMD Turion X2 Ultra 64 ZM-80 2.1 Ghz
4 Gb Of Ram
359 Gb HDD
Should I Upgrade Or What ?
The Average FPS I Obtain Is 15 FPS. I Know My
Graphics card Is Bad But Still Any Other Tweaks. I've Also Tried "PostFxQuality=False" tweak But It Just Drops My FPS By 6, And 9 FPS Isn't Playable.Or Should I Add Ram Or Buy A New Graphics Card ?

Nothing you can really do. That laptop wasn't designed for gaming. You can't upgrade the video card in laptops for the most part. I think a few Alienwares and stuff like that have the option, but that is about it.

As far as I know, your motherboard and your gpu are on the same board, plus a laptop. So you would either have to replace everything and just use your laptop shell or upgrade.

Also how do you know everything about computers ?

That PC won't let you play Far Cry 3. It is barely better than your current one. If you want a gaming laptop, it will cost over $1000. If you want a desktop that plays Far Cry 3 well, you could do it for about $500.

I don't know everything about computers. I know less than a lot of the people on this forum.

Hi :)

It will run them on very low settings, maybe...

You CAN upgrade it...here is my graphics card as an example... >>> http://www.powercolor.com/us/products_features.asp?id=4...

Thats $1000 US ...lol

Now can you see why that little graphics card is so bad ?

Don't buy it, seriously. It's not even worth buying and upgrading the video card. That will not run any modern games over low settings with low fps. Medium or higher is beyond unplayable.

6GB GDDR5 ? WTF THAT'S THE BEST GRAPHIC CARD IVE EVER SEEN IN MY ENTIRE LIFE !!!!!!!!!! DUDE HOLY *** ! You Can Any Game ! I Wish I Had That !

So Then What A Good PC With :
3.0+ GHz
A Good Video card

Seriously none. You will not find a pre built in the price range you want, for what you want it to do. Even a modest card for the games and settings you want is $200/300 ish and that's just the video card

Technically an i5 is ok for now, but who knows for whats coming out soon. An i5 with say a gtx 660 ti is about the minimum for what you want for the games your wanting to play.

Is An i5 Better Than i7 ?? Well, I Don't Need The BEST Equipment In market.Just Mid-High Range.

January 29, 2013 11:53:44 PM

If you actually want to play games on high settings you're looking at $250 minimum for the video card alone. If you were to get that CyberPower and upgrade the video card it would be alright.

l
January 29, 2013 11:55:01 PM

No i5 was before the i7. That's why I'm saying that's about the minimum you can go with at least a gtx660 for what you want to do.

No, a 630 is still on the pretty low end. Might be able to squeeze a 650 at low-mid range at playable fps

Hi :)

Because its CHEAP... no real advantage over 8 gb for gaming though...

Graphics cards are easy to explain... as I say to the customers in my Computer shops...

The MORE you PAY the BETTER you get....

Mine is $1000 and the best in the world...

$500 gets a real great card...

$200 gets a just about usable gaming card...

Anything below that cost....forget it for gaming...not if you want good graphics in games at reasonable settings...

All the best Brett :)

For what you want it for its not worth spending 500-600 just to play games on lower to middle end. Save up a few hundred more so its worth it. Otherwise if you just want to game on low settings, get the games for 360 or ps3 instead for way cheaper
